Obviously I'm Really Good At This...

So given the almost 12 months between posts, I'm clearly a dedicated blogger. But I'm going to try and get better. Seriously this time. Mostly due to one thing...

I'M GETTING MARRIED.

Ok, that alone is crazy enough for some people to swallow, but it's actually something I'm just a LITTLE excited about. And by LITTLE, I mean there's really no way I could be happier about it. This does mean some big changes, like College Football maybe having to be the third most important thing in my life. Most days it's kind of a toss up of who is in first, Piper & Dakota, or the guy crazy enough to marry me. If he survives the next 13 weeks, I definitely think he gets unchallenged First Place status for life. But just on the off chance that he may not be able to handle it, I made sure the commitment was squarely in place beforehand. Genius.

Getting married means all kinds of adult things, like trying to keep a better family history, compromise, and better priorities. We'll see how those go... but I have my first chance at that this weekend when I'll be skipping the LSU-Oregon game to go to the Texas State- TTU game with the Boy & Fam. The biggest reason I know he's a keeper? He agreed to watch the VT game in the AM and not protest when I wear my Hokie face tat to the game.

So the next blog will be a little catch up of all the changes, and a little info for my far away friends that haven't had a chance to meet this amazing guy. And since I'm all about feeding two birds with one feeder (Thank you to the fabulous Heather S.), I'll use this weekend's game to sneak in some cute pics of my guy AND Stadium 2. I love multitasking!

Stadium 7

So, some people know that my life's ambition is to see a game at every division 1 stadium. This makes Stadium 7. I got to see the BYU- San Diego State game while visiting my friend Megan, who is teaching at BYU this year. Can I just tell you how amazing it is to (1) be out of Lubbock, (2) see nature again, trees, mountains, and water (oh my), and (3) be at a game where the team I'm rooting for ACTUALLY wins. We decided to do the whole Homecoming experience though, and that included a few very special BYU-centric festivities:

Such as a pancake breakfast, featuring, you guessed it, BLUE chocolate chip pancakes. It appealed to my love of school spirit and obsession with pancakes.

 

There was also a parade that, save for one special cringe-inducing moment, was actually pretty fun. There were three different dancing groups: the ballroom dancing group, the folk dancers, and the (all white) hip hop club. These were the best outfits.

The game though was out of control. BYU started out strong, but then the Kim curse took full effect and they kinda napped for about 2 quarters. Once a Hokie, always a Hokie, but I never meant to inflict that kind of luck on another school. The stadium was freaking gorgeous though, which meant there was always something great to look at.

Megan & I decided to really commit and go all out for the game. And I don't mind telling you that we spent an inordinate amount of time looking at ribbon for the pig tails. But I think we pulled it off.

And I happily report that we left the game a little colder, but still smiling. Only 113 stadiums to go.

This New Thing I'm Doing...

....soooooo, for some reason I've decided that it would be a good idea to chronicle my life. I'm not really sure who might be interested in that, but if you're one of those morbid curiosity people, then maybe this will be interesting for you. Though fair warning, my life focuses on the following: college football, my labs, my teaching, and... that's probably it. So here goes my little experiment.
